Whilst each nail was wet they were individually bejewelled with Andrea Fulerton Nail Boutique Gemstones [around 20 each nail] to give a glamorous, eye catching finish.

Below you can see the application – the girls did amazingly to get all 11 models done in such a short space of time.

Serious attention to detail! It fully paid off though, they made such a statement and brought an added edge to the hair and make up styling.

Max factor recently set us insiders a task to re-create a colour boom look created exclusively for Superdrug by Caroline Barnes & I gathered all the make up applying knowledge I’ve accumulated from the tender age of 12 to valiantly rise to the challenge

Okay, so here’s how I did it…

The Eyes:

To get the brilliant blue colour on the eye lids I applied the light blue end of the Max factor Smoky Eye Effect Blue Tempest which gave me a light blue shimmer and on top of that I applied the darker blue.

The pointed end of the darker shade allowed me to re-create the shape that the model sports on her lids. I really wanted to match the vibrancy of the colour the model has on her lids so I pretty much went to town with the darker shade until I got the colour I wanted.

Afterward I lined my waterline with the Max factor Liquid Effect eyeliner in Black Fire. Normally I tend to do a rather large flick but this time I toned it down to balance out the drama of the blue eye.

I just want to take a moment here to rave about the eyeliner because it actually does give the effect of black liquid eyeliner and I should know because that is a staple of my every day make up. The colour is intense and this is the only eye pencil I’ve found in recent times that I’ve been pleased with so virtual hi-five to Max factor.

I finished off the eye make up by applying a generous coat of Max factor False Lash Effect Fusion mascara.

The Cheeks:

For the cheeks I applied the Max factor Miracle Touch Creamy Blush in soft pink.

I adore cream blushes as the traditional blushes tend to break me out for some reason. This blush went on smoothly and after application I immediately had a healthy glow. Between you and me I think I knocked a couple of years off me.

The Lips:

I liked that the lips are so natural in comparison to the eyes and there really wasn’t a lot for me to do there except apply a slick of Max factor effect lip gloss in diva pink.

And finally the Nails:

Now this was my favourite! Colourful nails this summer has been a must and all season I’ve been sporting greens, hot pinks and vibrant blues on my nails and to add to my collection I get this brilliant orange.

The Max Factor Max Effect Mini Nail Polish 25 Bright Orange comes in a tiny bottle and is super cute. Fact is one will only wear orange for a season so the small amount goes a long way.

It is a “made-to-measure lip balm that adapts uniquely to the heat and moisture of your lips for a bespoke individual colour” and therefore one lipstick suits all!

Now did I not tell you it was futuristic?!

The lipstick comes in a slick black case with a purple rim. When you open it up the stick looks like no lipstick I’ve seen before as it is transparent (how cool!) and it has a sweet fruity, tropical smell.

Once applied you won’t notice anything for a few seconds and then miraculously it darkens to highlight your natural colour and somehow ends up giving you the best shade for your face.

I was so excited by this I made my sister and my mum use it  and there the three of us were ooh-inng and ahh-ing as the colours melded into our lips giving us our bespoke lip colours.

My Maybelline Shopper Bag

I love the black and white image on the bag, a woman’s face with only her lipstick and Maybelline logo in bold red.

So anyway, I took along my sister who was down from University and we decked ourselves in some “fashionista”-type clothing and headed to Somerset house on Friday evening.

It was gorgeous, brands everywhere but before we lost ourselves looking at Juicy Couture and Twenty8twelve we headed to the floor where the nail bar was set up. We were greeted by a hive of activity and one glance told us the bar was a hit. There were at least 10/12 girls before us wanting to get their nails done and we were told the wait would be 15 minutes which was fine.

In fact the wait was much less. There were about 8 lovely manicurists working away and I was seated before a charming girl called Karen in no time. I asked for a French manicure as I had never had one before. I’ve always been a painting-my-nails-a-colour sort of gal but I thought why not shake it up a little?

She used a number of things on my nails, oil, base coat, white nail polish, top coat and a light pink nail polish to name a few. As far as I could tell all the products were from Rimmel.

Karen spent a good 15 minutes on my hands and I have to say my manicure at the nail bar was perhaps one of the best manicures I’ve ever gotten. The end result looked great and my nails looked so pretty and fresh that right then and there I became a French manicure convert for life!

After the strenuous task of getting pampered sis and I grabbed some coffee then got around to some serious ogling of the designer brands and I picked up a gorgeous little Kat & Bee ring.

The manicure survived well past the weekend and is still on my nails now, no chips, no nothing and still as pretty as ever. I’ve decided after I remove it I’m getting myself down to Superdrug and buying the Rimmel products Karen used so I can recreate my French manicure with which I have fallen madly in love.

Superdrug, you are super!

I applied my own foundation to even out my skin tone then applied the Luminous Pressed Powder. It went on nicely and had a very faint sparkle to it, which is perfect for the evening.  Time for blusher – I used Blush in Coral No.933 sparingly for this look and that gave me a nice peachy rose flush.  Next, I took the Ink eyeliner gel pot, a paint-on liner, to draw on my nose and whiskers and to line my eyes, pre-lashes. It went on really well, stayed the whole night and came off easily with a make up wipe when I got home.  My lips were easy; I wanted them to be pink so I piled on lots of the lovely Pout Polish spf 15 in Powder Pink 942 which looked and felt absolutely gorgeous on – this will be a permanent fixture in my make up bag from now!

Now for the eyes.  I applied the lashes (Girls with Attitude in Flash the Lash) first which I have to say were troublesome as they were massive but I got there in the end!  My bottom lashes got a bit lost with all the pink flutter that was going on so I used the Eye Drama mascara to define them a bit. I felt like I needed a bit more than just the eyelashes so I went for some pink glitter to blend in the pink lash line.  I used my own one as it was all I had but Stargazer do one that’s similar.

So that’s my Halloween look – hopefully not too scary but fun and effective!

You’re probably thinking “How does she fit all that stuff in her bag?” But its quite roomy and I love having a busy bag full of make up and everyday essential items.

Firstly, the perfume. It’s my all time favourite – it’s called SJP – NYC which is obviously Sarah Jessica Parker  New York City.

A Fruity/Floral scent. With Top notes of Italian Bergamot, White Osmanthus and Wild Strawberries. Middle notes of Honesuckle, Red Rose, Damascena and Mimosa. And Bottom notes of Sandalwood, Vanilla, Rum and Creamy Musks.

It really is the fruitiest and floral perfume on the market, its simply devine! I can’t get enough of it. I’d recommend it undoubtedly, I always have people comment on it asking what it is! And now you can snap it up in 60ml for £27.99 at your very own Superdrug!

Other essentials include the Sleek Make-up palette in Original which is beautiful, it has every shade you’d want and is as good as the leading brands at the moment. The eyeshadows are really thick and pigmented, you don’t have to apply much to get a lot of colour to jazz up your eyes. Priced at £5.49 it’s so affordable aswell, I’ve been eyeing up the blush palette which I definitely need to invest into.

My bag features a lot of make-up, always need to re-apply as the day goes on! Mascara wise I have the L’Oreal Volume Million Lashes which ticks all the boxes for me. Other favourites for me include the MUA glitter pink lipstick I spoke about in a previous post, 2true Shade 6 Colour Drench lipgloss and 3-in-1 concealer from the video post – everyday essentials! Rimmel 3-in-1 Powder Blusher is my all time favourite blusher, includes 3 really nice shades of pink to highlight the cheeks. The best thing about this is I’ve had it since Christmas and it still hasn’t run out!

My camera, sunglasses, keys, iPhone and purse are all vital bag items. Well, sunglasses if its sunny…which it has been these past couple of days! Note the purse is from Tokyo which is Rillakumun another Sanrio favourite of mine like Hello Kitty, so cute!

A comb will always come in handy if the hair strays, and good to tame a thick fringe like mine.  Or if you want to apply some volume its also really good to backcomb.

Saving the best to last, you may notice the bright pink Barry M lipstick towards the bottom middle of the top photo. Probably my favourite lipstick ever, its so vibrant and can really become the statement of a night out outfit. I team it with a black dress and pink heels or if I’m feeling daring I wear it in the day to brighten up my ensemble.

Not forgetting the bag, which is of course the bag I purchased from Missguided with my £60 voucher. It’s amazing and looks really designer and expensive! Unfortunately my version is sold out but theres a denim style one in stock on the site.
