As you can see in the picture the hand wash comes in gorgeous looking bottles which are recyclable. So not only does this handwash clean and moisturise your hands gently but it doesn’t harm the environment either. The smell of both washes is lovely although my favourite of the two has to be Waterfall. At just £2.49 a bottle this handwash is competitively priced and in my opinion good value for a 354ml bottle and I will be restocking up on this for the whole family.

The hand wash also produces a surprising amount of foam so every time you wash your hands it’s like having a mini foam party in your palms. I got to try out Waterfall and Sweetwater which both gave a delicate, subtle fresh fragrance which is naturally derived and the soap proudly declares it is free of parabens, triclosan and EDTA (if you’re wondering what these are then let me briefly explain; parabens are a class of chemicals, triclosan is an antibacterial and antifungal agent and EDTA  is an acid. Experts generally agree none of these are ideal for use on your skin).

Method leaves your skin feeling clean and soft, the pretty packaging is 100% recycled, it retails for only £1.65 and you can even get refills.

Method is not only a hand wash; it is a hand wash with a conscience.

I used an Oral B Pro Expert Cross Action toothbrush, (£1.79 instead of £4.07 at the moment) to test out the toothpaste. The toothpaste feels grainy, a sensation that I like because it really feels as though the teeth are being given a good clean and they did feel very clean afterwards. When I looked at the box it seems that the toothpaste contains active clean crystals to give a unique cleaning sensation. I am pleased to say that the minty taste is lovely and really does last and last keeping my mouth and breath fresh for hours.

At just £1.69 for a 75ml tube in Superdrug (usual price £3.49) I think it is outstanding value for a toothpaste offering so much.

So let me give you a bit of history about this toothpaste; mainly that it actually took 15 years to develop! And the reason for that is because it is aimed to be a all-in-one toothpaste, giving all things to all people. It combats enamel erosion, tartar build up and gum problems, it also whitens the teeth, is ideal for those who have sensitive teeth and erm, most importantly no bad breath, so you’re ready for a lip lock at all times!

The toothpaste is blue and contains tiny crystals which contain Stannous Fluoride and a Polyphosphate System  – the ingredients which do all those incredible things mentioned in the paragraph above. And for something less scientific, it also smells great and is nice and sweet! Your mouth is left feeling fresh and cool and you’re ready for the day ahead.

After using the toothpaste I didn’t notice a huge change in the physical appearance of my teeth but since I already use a whitening toothpaste along with a separate one for tackling plaque and so on and so forth (yes, I have my own combination, and I did warn you I was a tooth person) I wasn’t really expecting my molars to resemble Tom Cruise’s in the space of a few days. Btw, Tom Cruise probably has veneers anyway so natural teeth will never actually look like that.

But I did however enjoy the feel of the paste. I liked using it and I liked how long the effects lasted. My family agreed and my sister – who is basically the Queen of teeth, she’s well into flossing and is actually on first name terms with her dentist – has become quite the fan.

For the foreseeable future I’m going to be an Oral-B girl and I recommend that you guys give it a go!

Hi Everyone! I hope everyone has been out enjoying the incredible weather we have been having,summer is officially here (well for now anyway!) and that means you need something different from your make up routine. Gone are the short winter days and cold nights when you just want to crawl under the DVD and watch TV, now I want to be outside for as long as I can and be able to go from day to night with as  little fuss as possible. Thanks to a bunch of goodies I was sent from Rimmel ( and throwing in a  few of theirs that I have used for years) I think I have cracked the code on  an easy routine that will see you look summer sexy 24/7.

Day Time

For day time when the sun is really hot I find that I don’t want my face to feel caked in make up, opting instead for a really natural look and letting my skin breathe a bit more. So to achieve this I mixed a little of the Match Perfection cream gel foundation with a good moisturiser ( with SPF dont forget!) and applied it with my fingers to my face.

I say:

This gel texture is like nothing I have felt before and I think it is going to be incredibly handy for summer, it feels cool to the touch as you blend in, which thanks to its consistency is very easy. The colour really adapts to your skin tone, which is fab for evening out uneven patches like I have. I am a big fan of how build-able this foundation is, for day when mixed down it makes a superb tinted moisturiser that still allows the skins natural features like freckles to show through- it feel weightless but still gives you a natural polished look.

I have used Rimmel’s Bronzer and Matte Powdersince I was younger and have yet to find anything as good for the money anywhere else. So over my base I took a big powder brush and swept the bronzer from the temples down my nose and apples of my cheeks and just along the jaw to give a light, sun kissed, bronzed look. I then take a little matte powder and really lightly dabbed that along my T zone ( which tends to get oily in the hot sun) meaning the look helping your day time look more glow than grease!

As I said  I like to keep the look as natural as I can during the days so I then just filled in my brows with my trusty pencil and kept my lips soft with an SPF balm.  I looked a little sleepy on this occasion so I used Rimmels Eyeliner in Sable (Browns look less harsh and more day time than black I find) to line the top of the eyes and used a smudging brush ( a cotton bud will do just as well) to smudge the line, keeping it looking laid back and not too fussy. After that I curled my lashes to really opens those eyes up and applied a coat of the lengthening side of Rimmel’s new Day 2 Night Mascara.

I say:

Usually I think mascaras like this are gimmicky and there is no real difference with the level of lash they can give but with this one I was really impressed. The mascara works with one brush that,when unscrewed at one of two lids saturates the wand with a different level of product which then gives a differing level of intensity to the lashes- clever eh? The lengthening brush comes through the tube with a lot less product on the brush so really focuses on  giving your lashes those all important extra inches. It gave my lashes a huge boost without looking at all clumpy or cakey- perfect fluttery lashes for daytime. The brush is good for getting in to even the smallest lashes as when using the lenghtinging element the wand is angled so the product is distributed really evenly and easily.

I then chose a dusting of blusher on the apples of the cheek to give me a little more healthy colour but with this daytime look  just using bronzer looks lovely too.  I used a blusher I already loved, the 3 in 1 Powder Blush in Spring flower- I find this product has superb pigmentation for the money and the fact it is 3 in one means it is a total summer essential for popping in your bag. You can use the shades individually and choose the right one for your outfit or swirl them together for a gorgeous summer flush.

I find in the day time I want to be able to keep my hair  out of my face but don’t want it to look dull so I like to blow dry my hair in the morning ( if you have curls pop in a little mouse) then tie it up in a messy bun.  I then add a little headscarf as I think it livens the day look up and looks really cute, any hair accessory can really jazz up your day style and with your face looking so natural you can be as adventurous as you like!

Then to take it into night it is a really easy turnaround, I take out my hairband/ scarf, shake down my hair and spray in a little dry shampooto give it really nice texture and lift after a hot day. Then I quickly pin back my fringe into a little rock style quiff, keeps the hair off the face and looks perfect for night time along with your updated makeup! This literally took me only a few minutes to achieve and with only a couple of products so here is what I used:

Night Time

At night you can refresh your face with a splash of water or a put on a light amount of moisturiser and let it sink in your skin. Then add the match perfection on top, to what ever level of coverage you like or need, because it is so easy to blend you don’t need to be carrying brushes or anything just a quick application with your fingertips is all you need.  I then topped up my bronzer and always  find a little more blusher is right for the evening so used a brush to sweep on a little extra to complete the base.  I think it is the eyes that are easiest to make your look more ‘night’ so that is where I put the main focus. Thanks to Rimmels incredibly travel freindly  Glam Eyes Trio Shadowin shade Twilight zone, I could easily do this look. Instead of going for a full smokey eye I wanted my night eyes to still look   fuss free, relaxed and sexy. To do this I  used my  finger to pat a little of the silver shade over my lid, and then took a thin eyeliner brush and simply dipped it in water and swirled it in the matt black shade -making it the perfect smokey liner that I went over the brown liner from earlier. Winging it out in the corners and not being too precise gives it that edgier summer look I was going for, I then took a shadow brush and blended a tiny amount of the black into the outer corner of the eyes to open them out further. These shadows are really pigmented, super blendable and lasted me the whole night- great value for money and the colours available all look gorgeous.

Easy! Now to give my eyes more ooomph I simply took the volume brush of the Day to Night mascara and gave my lashes two coats, this really thickened them up and made them stand out,  it gives a great full on effect, that still didnt clump- very impressive. A touch of the white part of the shadow trio under my brown bone, the inner corner of my eye and along the top of my cheeck bones gives you that lovely night time glow. I wanted to keep the lips simple but still a little jazzed up for the bar so a slick of  Moisture Renew Lipstick in Fancy gave me the moisture and shine I needed to pull the whole night look together!It was a superb moisturising formula which lasted for ages-even after a couple of sneaky drinks, the packaging really stood out and actually made it easy to find it in my bag, perfect for quick touch ups!

It really is that easy and quick to do so thank you to Rimmel for giving me a look to last into the night, all the while keeping my handbag lighter with the small amount of products  needed! I’ve had a little trouble getting anything on paper with regards to the lotion because although it does the job more than adequately, it is not outstanding nor is it terrible; bang on average would be the way to describe it.

The lotion smells great and goes on smoothly. I have quite dry skin and did have to use quite a lot to feel adequately moisturised as the lotion was slightly on the thin side. The lotion contains L-Bifidus and Shea butter, both of which are geared toward keeping dry skin moisturised and although I didn’t notice any huge difference during the time I used the lotion, I suspect that with longer term use I would have seen better results.

The problem is not that it is not a good lotion, but the fact that there are so many great lotions out there that it is hard for any one of them to really blow me away.  I would use the product again and I would also recommend it, it may not be extraordinary but it does the job more than satisfactorily.

Today at work I was staring out at all the snow happily day dreaming about all the goodies I would love to wake up to on Christmas morning, after doing all my shopping for everyone else there are a course a few things I had seen along the way that I wanted for myself ! For this blog we have been asked to talk about radiance, and when we last felt radiant ourselves. To me, radiance conjures up ideas of almost celestial beauty and a state of emitting perfection and brilliance through every pore. I imagine people with glowing, unblemished complexions; confident, unhindered poise and everything just falling in to place naturally- no hair frizzing, no spots emerging. I think I may have airbrushed the concept of radiance in my mind, after all how many people could this description possibly apply to? I find myself a very scruffy person, constantly covered in dog hairs, with smudged eyeliner, a bright red nose and foundation congealing in a lovely orange strip just above my neck. Not to be self depricating, I find absolutely nothing about myself could fall under the ‘flawless’ or ‘perfect’ category in which I would define radiance- does this mean that I could never be radiant? I hope not. Realistically, I think radiance probably has as much to do with your state of mind as your appearance. If you feel happy with how you look, and have self-confidence, you can probably emanate a happy, lovely aura.

To look radiant, others have suggested all kinds of helpful things in their blogs- things which should probably, well (ideally definitely) be adhered to. Drinking lots of water. Eating healthily. Taking good care of your skin. Taking vitamins. Doing exercise. Now, in my opinion, just as there are people who are naturally perfect in appearance, there are also people who are naturally perfect in behaviour- or who can train themselves to be so. However, there are also people like me, who despite how many times they tell themselves they will eat better and drink more water etc. have unopened Omega 3 tablets, once-tasted-and-never-touched-again packets of bulgar wheat, discarded eye wrinkle cream and 100% abandoned exercise dvds. So, thus far I have more or less given up hope on looking radiant, and now making myself radiant via a healthy lifestyle is also a fading dream, only to be rekindled once every couple of months after seeing a particularly bad photo of myself on facebook which must be immediately untagged.

So for anyone reading these blogs who acknowledges that they are a bit rubbish like me when it comes to self confidence, natural beauty and bothering to try to change your lifestyle- our only choice may be trickery! Some people think make-up stems from vanity- but with make-up we can cover our imperfections, exaggerate our best features, fool others and ourselves in to believing that we have natural glowing complexions; smooth lips; rosy cheeks; sparkling eyes. This way we can perhaps grow to love how we look, and maybe gain the self-confidence-radiance for real. This is why I hate it when people think make-up is a mask, when personally it just makes me feel a lot happier about myself and how I look.  And if happiness = radiance, and make-up = happiness, then…maybe make-up = radiance. (It best had be, it’s my only (lazy) hope.)
