With the Christmas season and the credit crunch currently running side by side, I’m having to think creatively about what to give my girly mates.

Then I came up with an idea… Friends for a fiver!

But how can I make the most of my £5 per friend?

It would seem Superdrug has the answer.

In my box of Christmas treats that arrived from the lovely Superdrug, there was a box of Colourworks Double Delight Lipglosses,

which contains 7 double-ended lip glosses for a very reasonable £6.99. It’s part of the ‘3 for 2 Gifts’ promotion, too – in case you need any more persuading that it’s a bargain.

OK, so that’s 6 friends each getting a lip gloss each, and erm… one for me!

Well, they’re so gorgeous, I’ve got to be allowed to keep one haven’t I?

Total spend per friend so far? £1.16

Oooh what else can I put in my Friend for a Fiver goody bag?

A quick surf on the Superdrug site found me the:

Superdrug Naturals Moisturiser Pack

a fabulous £2.99 for three, I’ll take 2 of them thank you – one of them being free in the ‘3 for 2 gifts’ offer if you count the lipglosses as one of the 3 for 2!

Total spend per friend so far? £1.66

So far we have glossy lips and soft skin – what next I wonder?

Oooh I say, what about the Colourworks Mascara Wardrobe,

which contains three fantastic mascaras for just £5.99?

So, two of them in my basket, but hang on, to make it ‘3 for 2’, let’s add the ColourWorks Complete Cosmetics Set,

which contains 13 fabulous treats, including eyeshadow, nail polish, a mirror, make-up brushes and blusher – 2 each for the friends, 1 for me!

Erm… hang on while I do the maths*…

That make my total spend per friend so far…

£4.32

Now, if you take the left over money – 68p per friend– and times it by six

(DG’s brain grumbles…)

it comes to £4.08

which is more than enough to buy some gorgeous wrapping paper to wrap it all up in!
