MSJIT – Friday 7th August

Picture 2

Hi, for those of you new to this blog, I am one of Superdrugs summer insiders Dal. I’m here to share my summer with you, and boy its going to be one hot summer, as its going to be jammed packed!

I like to start as I mean to go on, so here’s a quick toast….have fun in everything you do!

After nearly a month of localised flooding, rain clouds, blustery winds…summer is back!

As I had a miserable week at work, decided last minute to get the weekend started and go out in the evening. And what better way to start, but to go and have a few cocktails at our local Bistro Episode.

Amazing cocktails to choose from, one of my ol’ favourites the Cosmopolitan:- Cosmopolitan

  • 1½ shots vodka
  • 1 shot orange liqueur e.g. cointreau or triple sec
  • 1 shot cranberry juice
  • A dash of lime juice

Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add the vodka, liqueur, cranberry juice and lime juice. Shake well. Strain into a chilled cocktail glass. Garnish with a lime twist, and vol la…

The night was really mild, and the garden was packed with 30 somethings who were celebrating birthday’s, girlie gossips, and men who were slowly getting rowdier by the minute, and trying to make a show of themselves, it just felt so great to be outdoors without a rain coat or umbrella.

As the crowd slowly dwindled, I was being dragged to another ye faithful, Bar 44, which must change hands at least once a year, and each year they have a face-lift, but no ones quite got it right. Its missing a bit of personality, but I’m trying to be open minded, and decide to take the step and try it out again…

This time, they’ve managed to make it really glarey, bright lights, and a DJ in the corner. The same crowd followed from Episode, so now I was surrounded with a dozen or so men (Rugby players for Leamington Spa) who believe it or not, were quite happy to dance to Hot Chocolate – You sexy thing, and mimicking the scene out of the Full Monty.

fullmonty

As it happens the evening was quite entertaining, and it was a good laugh, but the most weirdest part of the night was I witnessed for the first time, Bar Diving. What it is, you climb onto the bar, and dive into the crowd, which by the way is waiting in line to catch you. Seeing grown up men clambering onto the bar totally off their heads was hilarious, one by one they climbed up, until it was my turn…Fortunately for me, I wasn’t so drunk, and very much wanted to keep my dignity in tact, however there was just no way getting out of it.

DiveIntoCrowd

I was pulled up onto the bar, and below me stood these grown-up men, who’d I seen getting worse
through the night, and do a terrible rendition of the full monty and waiting for me to fall into their
arms…and before I knew it, with my eyes closed I dived in… low and behold I’m saved, no injuries, no tears, and I’m given a large applaud and handed a very large stiff drink for the ‘SHOCK’

  1. It‘s quite in here! Why not leave a response?
