Ok, we need to all stop kidding ourselves here. There’s no such thing as Summer is there?
Above is the sodden reamins of my ‘Superdrug feels like Summer’ sign 10 minutes after having left home.

Lovingly crafted with my bare hands using centuries-old felt tip pens, I didn’t feel the need to pre-photograph the sign to prove it’s existence.

Ahem…

Leaving his flat with D (the Boy) I felt one or two droplets of rain bounce off my nose, a couple of them balanced on my eyelashes before I blinked them to the ground.
Anticipating a light shower I produced a mini umberella from my handbag.
The ‘light shower’ quickly relented in to a monsoon. The roads around us were running like rivers and we were huddled underneath a frankly useless green umberella which was flapping around in the wind.

Now, I usually dress for the weather. If I’dve known about the impending local tidal wave I would not have left the house wearing suede fringed boots. They resembled a pair of glossy-coated otters within minutes.
As you can imagine, whilst sheltering by a wall and nestled under a now leaking umberella, photo opportunites did not spring to mind. A few colourful words did though.

I’ve talked about my hair before, I could quite easily pass for Cher circa. 1978 if I didn’t own a good hot pair of GHDs.
So imagine my dilemma…
Now imagine me, knelt down underneath the hand-drier in Starbucks desperately teasing it straight(er) with my fingers. To no avail.
Imagine me with mascara running down my cheeks, smiling through gritted teeth as I emerged from the toilets looking like a freshly primped French poodle. My boots squelching embarrassingly with every step.
This was not how today was planned. Today was supposed to ‘…feel like Summer’.

Today felt more like rainy season in South East Asia.

I’m checking the weather forecast tomorrow.
