Finally the day of the A level results fell on Thursday. I’m not one to get nervous, but that day i did. The only reason being; loads of people were updating their facebook status saying “[Name of uni] here i come!!” In my attempt to follow the crowd I eagerly logged onto the UCAS track system (which took an age in itself because of how many people were using it) to find out my fate.
This is where the nerves were hiding, the only update i could find was that they were awaiting confirmation of my university because of academic conditions (or something along those lines). I took this to mean I hadn’t gotten into any of my choices, because why was it only me who couldn’t see what uni they had gotten in to?
So, off we drove up to college, my hands literally shaking as I took the one and only envelope that I have been flippantly waiting for for months – I held the folded paper in my hands for what seemed like an age, unable to bring myself to open it. The friends that had gathered in this time were all basking in their success – which enabled them to force me into reading the results.
And… I did it! Gosh, those nerves were unreal. The same that were felt on each and every one of my 5 driving tests (yes you heard right).
I acheived 3 B grades in my main subjects – which is 2 grades higher than the BCC I needed for my first choice university. To confirm the joy, i logged back onto UCAS when i got in – to find the same message. I still don’t know what happened but as I had got higher than i needed, plus the taking of a gap year, my head of sixth reassured me I would be fine. It has taken them until today to confirm I have actually got in.
So, I can finally say “Northumbria university, here I come!”. All of my friends got what they needed and more, so there was no need for any of us to hide our celebratory faces, thank goodness. I would have hated to have been on a high while a friend mourned their university loss.
The celebrations began with a late pub lunch, where we were lucky enough to have nice weather, so retired to the huge beer garden after for drinks. It only began to storm on the way home – so good timing rain.
We took the celebrations into the night. We were origanally going to trek out in school girl attire – but we scrapped that idea in a bid of decency. A few pics from the night;

The usual haunt.

My own attempt at a ‘Superdrug feels like summer’ ‘poster’

And so the drinks flowed…
The night I rode a giant WKD bottle. I can’t say how long I lasted… But my dignity was held onto, ish.

The Dorothy P shoes that stifled my fun at just 1.30am.
But, I can honestly say it was one of the better nights of recent times, so it didn’t ruin my fun too much!

Well done Phoebe! And to all whom received their results this week!
Congratulations. Enjoy Uni
